Improving recruitment and promotion opportunities for ethnic minorities
A growing acceptance of the business case for a diverse workforce by UK employers is beginning to lead to greater employment opportunities for ethnic minority job-hunters and employees in some organisations. In this article, we focus on initiatives taken by Asda, Lloyds TSB and Manchester City Council which have resulted in, among other things, a four-fold increase in the proportion of ethnic minority graduates, greater promotion opportunities for ethnic minority staff and a flagship store where up to four out of five staff are from visible minorities.
